This is the rigging process for the "top-hoist" which is performed by the Chagrin Falls Fire Department at the top of the flag pole.
Fasten hard-eye cable to pole with a hitch, as shown
Ends will hang together on one side of the flag pole, e.g., the North side.
Use one ratchet-strap to fasten hanging ends of cable to pole, using an alternative over-under pattern, as shown.
After weaving strap a number of times, get ratchet started, but not to final tightness.
Fasten yellow rigging plate to hard-eye ends of cable.
Close screw-gates on carabiner, finger tight. Do not over-tighten.
Compress top of hitch downward to top of straps.
Keep hard-eye ends of cable level.
When hitch is compressed and ends are even, apply final tension to ratchet.
Hitch second cable above first cable.
Ends hang on opposite side of pole from first cable, e.g., South side.
Repeat same steps for second cable.
Red rope is the rigging that raises the Middle Plate. Yellow rope is the rigging that is used to raise and drop the popcorn ball. Ropes shown are not the ropes that were used.
